If your kidlets love seeing animals and playing with LEGO blocks as much as mine do, then The Bronx Zoo has the perfect combination in store for you! This summer, The Bronx Zoo is taking visitors on a conservation journey through Wild Forest: A LEGO® Safari, featuring spectacular LEGO wildlife sculptures and a bunch of other great activities for the entire family.
LEGO Master Builders have created an amazing safari of wildlife sculptures made entirely out of LEGO bricks. On display along the wooded path near the Zoo Center, visitors will see lemurs, a tiger, two white rhinos, a mommy gorilla and her baby, flamingos, a giraffe, penguins, a coral reef with schools of fish, Hornbill birds, toads and a zebra. The best part is that after you’ve enjoyed seeing the LEGO sculptures, you can go and visit their real-life counterparts at the zoo.
The Dancing Crane pavilion has been transformed into a LEGO “construction zone” where you can build wildlife sculptures to be put on display for all to see as well as help in completing a vibrant Mystery Mural.
In addition to all the LEGO fun, members of the Wildlife Theater perform for guests along the length of the safari path. Guests can also create their very own animal prints and puppets based on the zoo’s African animal with the help of artists from the Museum for African Art.
Over at Asia Plaza is an original production of Avenue ZOO, featuring a guest appearance by Kate Monster, from the Tony Award-winning musical AVENUE Q. Avenue ZOO tells a kid-friendly tale where Kate Monster meets exotic animals and discovers that though they may seem strange and different, they are not so scary after all.
A full listing of all the various activities and exhibits included in Wild Forest: A LEGO® Safari can be found at www.bronxzoo.com.
Wild Forest: A LEGO® Safari is free with your general admission to the Bronx Zoo. If you buy your tickets in advance and online you can save 10% on your entire purchase, which is a great family value.
Now it’s your time to share. What is your favorite animal to see at the zoo?
