Have you ever met someone and within minutes you know they’re a kindred spirit? That’s how I feel about today’s guest poster, my friend Jennifer Arlin. She’s kind, caring and always willing to help others. I feel a deep sense of warmth and calm whenever I see her! Jennifer is a law professor, a mother of three and an obsessive knitter. She blogs over at Still Life With Crockpot and today she’s sharing with you her recipe for Delicious (and totally adorable) Autumn Acorn Treats.
Take it away Jennifer…..
The latest autumn treats making the rounds on Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram are fun and easy to make, and the best part, they only have three ingredients! They’re chocolate peanut butter acorns, and here’s how you make them.
You’ll need a bag of Nutter Butter Bites sandwich cookies, the small, round ones. If nut allergies are a concern, substitute Nilla Wafers or Mini Oreos. You’ll also need a bag of Hershey Kisses and semi-sweet chocolate morsels, like Nestle’s.
Assemble your ingredients in your workspace. Unwrap the Hershey Kisses so you’ll be able to work quickly.
Microwave a clean, dry plate for two or three minutes, until its surface is hot. (If you’re working with young people, supervise them carefully as they handle the hot plate.)
Now the fun begins…
Press a Hershey Kiss, flat side down, to the center of the hot plate until its surface begins to melt. Then quickly press it onto one side of a cookie.
Do the same thing with a chocolate morsel: melt its bottom slightly, and then press it onto the other side of your cookie.
And you have an acorn! That’s all there is to it.
Repeat until you have a whole plate full.
These delicious and adorable treats can be used as autumn holiday decorations, for example, on the Thanksgiving table, sold at bake sales or sent to school for parties (again, be mindful of peanut allergies), tucked into care packages, or given as gifts.
Just don’t leave them lying around – they won’t last!
Thanks Jennifer for visiting with us today and for this cute and tasty fall treat!
Now it’s your turn to share. What’s your favorite fall treat to make?
