Spending a day at the Jersey Shore is the ultimate summer experience. It’s home to hundreds of miles of wonderful beaches and boardwalks filled with amusement park rides, arcades, games, and, of course, yummy food!
I’m always a little sad when Labor Day rolls around and the summer at the shore ends. Honestly, I could live at the beach and I would still never feel as though I’ve spent enough time with my toes on the sand and walking the boards!
But fall doesn’t mean that fun at the beach and boardwalk has to end. Jenkinson’s Boarwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ still has lots of fun family weekend events going on throughout both September and October, so it’s not too late to enjoy some fun in the sun at the Jersey Shore!
Here are some upcoming events:
Boardwalk food has always been one of my biggest Jersey Shore indulgences. Who can resist the salty and sweet aromas of pizza, fries, sausage and peppers wafting through the air. I know I can’t.
And when it comes to sweet treats — frozen custard, funnel cakes, homemade fudge and salt water taffy are boardwalk standards. You’ll find all those tempting treats at Jenkinson’s Sweet Shop, but they also have an amazing selection of candied apples!
For the past few weeks amateur candied apple connoisseurs have submitted their recipes for the perfect combo to Jenkinson’s Sweet Shop. On Saturday, September 27 finalists will be create their apples and present them to a panel of judges where an ultimate winner and a number of prizes will be awarded.
My five-year old daughter is fascinated with pirates. One of her favorite books for us to read together is “How I Became A Pirate.” It’s the story about a little boy who is on a vacation at the beach with his family when he joins a pirate crew on treasure hunting adventures. She’s so into pirates these days that she’s even going to be one for Halloween.
Pirate Plunder – Arrrgh! is an event aimed at young scallywags – aged 4-8 – who enjoy pirate adventures. Enjoy snacks and non-alcoholic “grog” (a sort of miss-mosh of a citrus drink), make a craft, and more! Kids are encouraged to dress in their best pirate garb and join in for some swashbuckling fun! Pre-registration is required and is $15 per person.
Celebrate Halloween “boardwalk style” with Jenkinson’s Boo at the Boardwalk. Kids are encouraged to dress in costume and there will be trick or treating, face painting, live entertainment, games, make & take crafts and more. This is a family fun Halloween event for all to enjoy, so bring the whole family by and create some fun memories!
We’ll be checking out Jenkinson’s Boardwalk this weekend and we’re also planning to go to one of the Boo At The Boardwalk weekends. While we’re there we’ll also make sure to play some games and hit up some of the amusement rides!
Now it’s your turn to share. What activities are you doing with your family this fall?
