I love Fridays. Not just because it’s the end of the week and the start of the weekend (Woo Hoo!) – but because in our house it’s PIZZA DAY! Everyone in our household loves pizza and we each have our own favorite type of pizza. My son prefers the thicker slices that Sicilian or Chicago Deep Dish offer while my daughter likes plain pizza with a thin crust. The Hubs likes his spicy, so it’s covered in hot peppers galore and as for me, I’m pretty traditional with mushrooms and sausage.
So it should come as no surprise that National Pizza Month is a huge thing in our house. How do we celebrate? Well, by going out and eating pizza at our local pizzeria! The folks at Restaurant.com are celebrating by compiling this fun infographic based on a survey that asked diners, “How well-rounded is your pizza eating routine?” Their findings were simply delicious!
According to diners, 81% prefer independently owned restaurants versus popular pizza chains. Here are some other key facts that they served up:
- A majority of pizza eaters also seek deals or coupons for their purchase at least some of the time when ordering pizza.
- Rather than choose delivery, 37.5 percent of diners said they dine out for pizza because of its convenience (accessibility, timeliness).
- Chicago Style Deep Dish was one of the least preferred crusts (8.5 percent) among those surveyed. Thin and crunchy was the most popular crust among respondents in our survey (39.9 percent) followed by hand-tossed, New York Style crust (38.9 percent).
Did you know that you can go to Restaurant.com and find a great local pizzeria in your area to help you celebrate National Pizza Month? In addition to helping fill nearly 5.5 million tables a year on average at local dining establishments, Restaurant.com works with communities to support local businesses and help families save money with great deals on restaurant gift certificates.
Now it’s your turn to share. What is your favorite pizza topping?
I received a Restaurant.com gift card for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
