A few weeks ago I shared how our family is trying to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. To this point we’ve been abiding by the simple mantra of reduce, reuse & recycle, but we are now starting to try to eliminate any chemicals we use in our home – whether it’s the household cleansers or products we use on ourselves.
I never had really thought about the types and amounts of chemicals that are in my various beauty products until I couple of weeks ago when I received samples of the Organic Beauty Now green + glam hair care line of products, their Purity shampoo and Intensive Moisturizer conditioner.
The Organic Beauty Now green + glam line is a collection of natural hair and skin care products that does not sacrifice performance for the sake of being 100% natural. All of their products are formulated with certified organic ingredients and sustainably sources essential oils. There is no testing on animals and at least for this shampoo and conditioner they are also vegan and gluten-free.
I immediately liked the packaging. The shampoo & conditioner each came in a brushed aluminum can instead of a traditional plastic bottle. They look pretty in the shower – I know, that’s super important when trying out a new product LOL! I plan on re-using the bottles for something when the product is all finished.
Overall, I really liked the Purity shampoo and Intensive Moisturizer conditioner.
I will be honest here though; it did take me about a week to warm up to the shampoo. That was because it didn’t lather up like normal chemical laden shampoos. However, the shampoo left my hair clean and my scalp without any sort of waxy buildup. It also had a nice scent, nothing overly fragrant and over-powering.
My favorite out of the duo though was the conditioner. I have the double whammy of both dry hair and a flaky scalp which is caused in part by all the blow-drying and flat ironing I do to it. This conditioner went on as an ultra rich crème and left my hair silky soft and looking healthy with a great shine.
Another thing I liked about the products is that you don’t have to use a lot of it to get results. The Hubs and I have been using them every day for a few weeks now and we’re about half-full, which is good since they are a little pricey – $22 for the shampoo & $24 for the conditioner, but the results are well worth it.
Now it’s your turn to share. What do you look for when choosing a new shampoo or conditioner?
