HOORAY, It’s My SITS Day!

A big Harried Mom “hello!” to all the new SITS friends stopping by today, I’m so glad you have decided to come by and check me out!  For my regular posse, please don’t be alarmed by the above acronym-I didn’t catch anything!

In fact, SITS is a wonderful thing!  It stands for the Secret To Success Is Support and it’s an amazing group of 40,000+ women who are passionate about blogging.  SITS is a much-needed resource for others to find support and learn about the latest in social media.   They’ve been an extremely valuable resource to me since I started blogging last fall and can’t believe that today is my big day as the SITS Girls Featured Blogger!

Me & the kidlets enjoying a carousel ride – kinda like life, right? The Hubs is taking the pix which is why he’s not in it!

So for those newbies out there asking “who is The Harried Mom?”, I’ll introduce myself.   My name is Debra and I’m a harried mom of two young kidlets.  My son starts kindergarten this fall and I have an almost three-year old daughter who is in pre-school.  The Hubs is truly my partner and my biggest supporter in life, work and this blog.  We are happy to call northern NJ our home-it’s really quite nice!  Though I’m a born and raised Jersey girl, I’m no aspiring real housewife of NJ.   Aside from my mommy CEO duties, I have a full-time career outside the home in entertainment PR.   Oh, we also have a crazy dog, Bailey – she predates the kidlets, and hopefully we made all of our parenting mistakes when we were raising her!

My blog is all about trying to safely navigate my way through playdates, school, family life all while trying to balance a career that I love, so I’m just like many other moms out there — maybe even you! It’s not always easy, but the biggest thing I’ve learned so far is that you have to be willing to laugh– mostly at yourself!

Here are a few of my favorite posts that shed some light as to who I am:

Thanks for coming by today, please enjoy your visit here at The Harried Mom.  I hope that you’ll join in the conversations here, and most importantly, come back again soon for another visit!

Now it’s your turn to share! Please say hi and introduce yourself!

  1. Awww….I LOVE your Bailey! She reminds me of OUR very first Cockapoo…Sheeba! She was a black cockapoo. =) And I am a flogger (food blogger) so I loved your last post on grilling! I love smoked meats and grilling in the summer, so your post was a wealth of information! Congratulations on your SITS day….sorry I am a day late! =)

  2. Hi! My little guy is starting kindergarten in the fall too – I can’t believe it! I hope you had a fantastic SITS day and you have a ton of new followers!

    • Ooh, you’ll have to come back so we can compare kindergarten notes! Today has been such a great day – all you SITS ladies are fabulous – I appreciate everyone who took the time to visit and comment!

    • Where in Bergen County? I grew up in Leonia and now live in River Vale….can’t get the Jersey out of me! thanks for stopping by & commenting!

    • Thank you – I always feel like I need to be an octopus to get everything done, so it was perfect!

  3. Congrats on being featured! I’m about to be a mom for the first time, but I like to think taking care of a dog and 5 cats has harried me enough that I’ll be ready for the ‘real’ thing when he pops out :)

    • Congrats to you! It’s the best thing you’ll ever do, be a mom…but you are already a mommy to your house of cats & dogs. My dog Bailey was some of the best parent-in-training work I ever did!

  4. Happy Sits Day! I love the image of the mom with many arms! LOL! Quite funny… very realistic though!!! I hope you are enjoying your day!

  5. Hi Debra! I am happy to meet you and I feel for you with two small kids. My first two were born 18 months apart and so at one stage I had two kids in diapers. It wasn’t easy. Now they are teenagers! I have another child who will turn 12 in a couple of months and my surprise baby, Amanda, is now four and at preschool like your kids. I wish you all the best with juggling a career that you enjoy and family life. You are your kids’ life coach. If you are true to your dreams and your abilities, then your kids can be true to theirs. :)

    God bless!
Tina – mom of 4, author and blogger of 5 blogs

    • Wow – you are a harried mom yourself! Thank you for coming by and commenting, it’s so nice to hear from other moms out there!

    • Thank you! I’m glad you came by…I’ve met so many wonderful bloggers and women through SITS!

  6. Hi! Stopping in from SITS. I have one of those hairy kids that I tried to get all my parenting mistakes out with… I’m finding that I still have enough mistakes in me that I am still learning. Our kids are close in age – I have a 4.5 and a 3 year old…

    • Pets are much more forgiving then my actual kidlets! There are plenty of days that I’m a total mom fail, but there are so many good ones that make it all worth it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I hope you’ll be back.

    • Oh where in Jersey are you? It’s a fine line between laughing & crying….I’ll take laughing anytime! Thanks for coming by, hope you’ll be back soon.

    • What a lovely compliment, thank you so much. I hope that you will be back & keep joining the conversation!

    • Thank you my friend. Your day isn’t that far away…it’s a great feeling. Thanks for supporting me!

  7. Congrats on your day! Love the line about not being a Jersey Girl – shame that is what pops into people’s heads now when you hear that term!

    • I know what you mean…those ladies (while mildly entertaining) are CRAZY. Not all women from NJ are like that. Thanks for coming by, hope you’ll be back soon!

    • Thank you so much and I couldn’t agree with you more, but I guess I’m biased ;) Thank you for coming by, hope you’ll be back soon!

  8. Hi Debra! Happy SITS day to you. What a cute blog you’ve got! My son starts Kindergarten this Fall too…big changes ahead for all of us, right? Looking forward to seeing more of you on fb and twitter!

    • Thanks so much for coming by! We’ll have lots to share when they start kindergarten….it will be a whole new world for all of us! Hope you will be back and let me know how it’s going with you.

  9. Happy SITS day. Your photo caption makes me think of our family. There are SO few pictures of all four of us. Or if we do have us all, then we only got one shot to all smile and so either we didn’t or something else went wrong. Sigh. I love being IN the pictures, but I like taking them better, so I’m only in a few here lately at our house.

    • I looked for a long time to find a pix of us all – I did manage to get one of all of us at my 40th birthday a few weeks back, but it was a chaotic shot to get. Thanks for coming by today. I hope you’ll be back soon.

    • Thank you! Sharing experiences helps us all get through motherhood! I hope you will be back again soon!

  10. Hi Debra and happy SITS day!

I’m visiting from SITS and have to say that I absolutely love the design of your blog. It caught my eye right off the bat! I cannot wait to get started with reading your blog posts. :)

  11. Hi Debra,
Hope you get lots of friendly visitors from SITS. It feels like yesterday when my kids were as young as yours – now my oldest is learning how to drive. Yikes! Don’t let anyone tell you that the teen years are horrible; as you already know, every stage has its plusses and minuses!

    • Thank you, all you SITS ladies are so wonderful & supportive – I’m so glad I’m a part of this community. I can’t even imagine my son learning how to drive….if he drives anything like being 5 years old, we’re all in a lot of trouble! I hope you’ll be back to visit soon!
