A few weeks back I shared the nightmare my family was living while our kitchen was being renovated. We weren’t knocking down or building out any walls, so it purely was a cosmetic job and our contractor told us he considered it to be pretty easy and told us it would take about three/four weeks max to complete. Well, that three/four weeks quickly stretched into six due to the Labor Day holiday and a back up with our granite counter top order.
Luckily we passed all inspections with no trouble at all (due to a good contractor!) and we’ve been living with our new kitchen for a few weeks now. So, was all the wait and frustration worth it????
I love my new kitchen! For the first time in my entire married life (9 years) I finally have a refrigerator that is from this century and I can fit more than a carton of milk, yogurt and some frozen meals in:
I now have a sink so deep that I can actually fit a pasta pot in it. The faucet has a detachable spray head which makes cleaning so much easier and the sink has a garbage disposal installed. I’ve also finally got enough counter space where things don’t look all cramped in:
I love the tile that the designer at the wholesale granite & tile place helped us pick out. She did a great job of selecting an accent tile that really compliments the cabinets as well as the green tones in our granite:
Our next quest is to buy two stools, similar to our dining set chairs, that we can use at the breakfast bar so the kidlets can eat their, well…breakfast and snacks, do homework & even color while mommy’s cooking away.
I’m so happy we did this and that we didn’t rush things just to get it done. This is a kitchen I enjoy cooking in and will for years to come. As much as I love the kitchen and the end result, I still shutter at the thought of life while under construction. Let me tell you, I’m in no hurry to do any more major fix-ups inside the house like that again anytime soon!
Now it’s your turn to share. What is the one thing you’d re-do in your kitchen?
