We finally made our way over to the Bronx Zoo to check out their latest adventure, Dinosaur Safari.
Both my kidlets love dinosaurs. My son is a whiz at all the different dinos– and can tell you the difference between a Stegosaurus, a Styracosaurus and a Supersaurus, no problem! My daughter tends to like the smaller dinosaurs, probably because she’s pretty small herself. So they were excited to go on a safari and explore the wonders of the prehistoric world!
We hopped aboard a paleontologist wagon and took a trip back 200 million years back in time when dinosaurs ruled the world! We traveled between the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic periods and encountered 16 large-scale majestic animatronic creatures along the way. Some of them were up to 40 feet long and others snarled, roared and even spit at us!
After our journey to the past, we visited the Dinosaur Safari Field Site and got to experience what it was like to be at an archeological dig. The kids uncovered fossils, explored dinosaur artifacts and even got a chance to control a robotic Stegosaurus!
And if you make your trip between August 24 and September 2, here are some other fun activities to check out while you’re there:
August 24 & 25 – Join Denisha & Chica from the popular live children’s TV series The Sunny Side Up Show on Sprout for an interactive adventure show with a prehistoric theme! Did you know that Chica and dinosaurs share most of the same DNA? That’s right, birds are actually living dinosaurs! Come see Chica the bird in this exclusive performance about the fascinating link between modern birds and ancient dinosaurs, only at the Bronx Zoo. After each performance at11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m, Sprout will host a meet & greet and kids will take home a goody bag filled with Sprout activity books, crayons, and stickers.
August 31 – September 2 – Come meet everyone’s favorite dinosaur from the popular children’s book series, How do Dinosaurs…? This classic children’s series, written by internationally acclaimed author Jane Yolen, shows that dinosaurs who sometimes misbehave are still loved. There will be an exclusive meet and greet at 1pm, 2:30pm, & 3:30pm.
