A few weeks ago I had the awesome privilege of attending Blogger Bash 2015 (#bbnyc) in NYC.
There are all sorts of blogging conferences and conventions out there to attend each year, but this one is by far my favorite because it is the only conference that focuses on helping bloggers make true connections not only with brands, but with other bloggers as well. It is a two-day fun and informative networking event.
Here’s my biggest issue with conferences, whether it’s with blogging or another topic. Sessions are either directed at those just starting out (newbies!) or super advanced for veterans. There was nothing in the middle for someone like me, a blogger who is looking for useful information and practical tools to take my blog to the next level and develop meaningful relationships with brands. That was until Blogger Bash launched last year.
Instead of boring lectures, Blogger Bash features interactive events including thoughtful panel discussions with expert speakers on a variety of topics such as creating branded video, doubling traffic with SEO, getting your message to the masses, leveraging emerging social platforms and social good.
Now, when you’re around other bloggers you naturally start to talk – about family, blogging, life, experiences and projects. These conversations are a great way to create and stimulate ideas and blog concepts. In fact, it was attending last year’s Blogger Bash that my pal Lisa at Mom a la Mode and I came up with our “Let’s Chat with Deb & Lisa” vlog series.
So this year’s Blogger Bash did not disappoint. Some highlights included:
Care Bears Brunch – I remember when Care Bears were introduced back in 1982 (GULP, I’m old!) and how cute they were. Now I can share my love of the Bears with my little girl – and help to promote their #ShareYourCare message of inspiring daily caring, sharing, love, friendship, acceptance, fun, happiness, compassion and philanthropic generosity.
Disney Infinity Breakfast– 3.0 Edition will include Inside/Out, The Avengers/Ultron and new Mickey & Minnie figures. While my son will enjoy the Star Wars Rebels figures, the Hubs and I are excited for the release of classic Star Wars characters – Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Yoda and Darth Vader!
The Peanuts Movie luncheon – Did you know that this year marks the 65th anniversary of Charles Schultz’s beloved comic strip. Coming in November, the Peanuts gang will have its first-ever 3D CGI-animated feature-length film. We heard from the cast and even got a special appearance from the famous beagle himself, Snoopy!
My favorite part of Blogger Bash though is their Sweet Suite (#sweetsuite15) event. Known within the industry as “The Biggest Night of Play,” it’s a sneak peek at some of the hottest toys for the upcoming holiday season. There were so many wonderful brands there such as Crayola, Skylanders, Leap Frog, Hasbro, Strawberry Shortcake, Playmobile, Nickelodeon, Razor, Build-A-Bear, Madame Alexander to name a few…
And I was the height of fashion with my Care Bears boa!
Here are a few of my standouts from Sweet Suite, mostly because these brands and products stand out to my kidlets (aged 5 and 8):
LEGO® – My kids love LEGO because of all the things they can create. I love LEGO because of how it stimulates my kidlet’s imagination. My son is currently obsessed with Minecraft – and now there’s LEGO sets just for that. My daughter is enjoying the Juniors line, perfect for little hands that are still learning coordination. After speaking with the rep there and telling her about how many Ninjago and Chima sets I’ve put together, she said I’m practically a master builder and could graduate to their Technics line….
Side note: The rep blew my mind when she told me that all LEGOs can be used universally with other LEGO sets and whipped out a Duplo and connected it with a regular LEGO….
VTech’s Kidzoom Action Cam – It’s sort of like a GoPro, but just for kids. The Kidzoom Action Cam is a great first video camera for kids and is durable enough to handle drops and tumbles. It can go anywhere and do anything kids can do and comes with two mounts so they can attach it to their bike, skateboard, etc. It comes with a waterproof case so kids can take videos and pictures up to 6′ underwater. The Action Cam features a 1.4″ color LCD screen and can photos.s. You download your photos and videos to a computer a USB cable and can share them with family and friends.
My Little Pony – What can I say, My Little Pony is simply adorable. My daughter loves these ponies with their colorful bodies, manes and, of course, their cutie marks! She can play for hours with her little friends – they go on adventures, and always help each other out because they know that #FriendshipIsMagic. Hasbro has a few new playsets featuring their more popular Pony characters such as Apple Jack, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash.
3D Magic 3D Maker – Kids can turn their art into an actual 3-D creation. Using an applicator and a special gel, children trace a design onto a template that gets inserted into the 3D Creation Maker. After 10 seconds the gel turns into a solid, allowing kids to build multi-dimensional structures. Unlike other 3-D design systems, this one is kid-friendly because it uses light, not heat to cure the designs. The gel is available in multiple colors, including a special glow in the dark formula, and comes with pre-designed templates or instructions on how to create your own.

Now it’s your turn to share. If you’re a blogger, what is your dream brand to be involved with?
