A few months back I talked about the “crushing” good time the family had at a Monster Jam show. That was an indoor arena show and is a totally different experience than seeing one of their shows in a full-fledged stadium filled with a custom dirt track full of obstacles to soar over and, of course, smash through! For all our friends and readers in the NY & NJ area, Monster Jam is set to roar back into town on its “Path of Destruction” tour at MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Saturday, June 14.
These trucks are built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, with monster trucks generating 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
Don’t let their monster size-fool you though, these trucks can truly float through the air! They can fly 125 to 130 feet — a distance greater than 14 cars side by side — and soar up to 35 feet in the air!
The Met Life Stadium has a pretty impressive line-up of Monster Jam trucks competing. They include legends, fan favorites and some new monster trucks on the block:
- Grave Digger®, driven by Dennis Anderson
- Grave Digger The Legend®, driven by Adam Anderson
- Son-uva Digger®, driven by Ryan Anderson
- Max-DSM, driven by Tom Meents
- Monster Energy, driven by Damon Bradshaw
- Mohawk Warrior®, driven by George Balhan
- Northern NightmareSM, driven by Cam McQueen
- Lucas Oil Crusader®, driven by Linsey Weenk
One of the things I loved about our Monster Jam experience was going to the Party in the Pits before the main event. For a small extra fee ($15) fans can get up close and personal with their favorite Monster Jam trucks and drivers. When we went earlier this year all the drivers were so gracious, taking time to speak to each of my kidlets, answer their questions, sign their Monster Jam program and even posed for photos.
To get the latest on competitors revealed to the star-studded line-up, be sure to follow Monster Jam on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They also have a YouTube Channel that you can also subscribe to at www.youtube.com/MonsterJamLive.
Tickets for this event start at $31 and are available at the MetLife stadium box office, all Tickemaster retail outlets, online at www.Ticketmaster.com or via phone at 1-800-745-3000.
