That’s just one of the many chants and cheers you can hear emanating from our house throughout football season, but never more so than during the month of January. With football playoffs now in full swing, there is always one game or another playing on the TV during the entire weekend.
All season long the family’s been snacking on the usual football fare – potato chips, pretzels and popcorn. However, just like our favorite teams need to step it up during the playoffs in order to make it to the Big Game, so did I with our tailgating snacks!
My game plan was simple. I headed over to Walmart and picked up some SNICKERS® Fun Size bars, Original Skittles® and Life Savers® Gummies as the basis of my #BigGameTreats for this week’s playoff games.
The MVP of my menu were my Snickers Peanut Butter Frosted Brownie Bites. My key play here was to buy pre-made brownie bites from the bakery section to save on prep time. All I had to do was literally whip up the frosting and in no time at all and with very little effort I had a fabulous looking and tasting tailgate treat. The Skittles and Life Savers Gummies were great teammates, the perfect one-handful snack to eat in between plays on the field.
Here’s how I did it:
No Bake Snickers Peanut Butter Frosted Brownie Bites
Prep Time: 30 minutes, mostly for frosting to set up
Cook Time: NONE!
8 oz low-fat cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup low-fat whipped peanut butter
8 oz whipped topping
1 cup confections sugar
6 Snickers Fun Size Bars chopped
- Mix the cream cheese and peanut butter until well blended
- Fold in the whipped topping, until totally incorporated
- Carefully stir in the confections sugar (or else it will go flying everywhere)
- Fold in all but 1 bar of the chopped Snickers
- Put the frosting in the fridge for 20 minutes to set up
- Top each brownie bite with the frosting and add a piece of the reserved chopped Snickers on top for decoration
I found some fun football themed plates, napkins and cups – which made our #BigGameTreats even more festive. I say it was a total touchdown with my team!
Now it’s your turn to share. What’s your favorite tailgating treat to eat during the Big Game?
