At 3 pm today, spring break officially started in my house and I’ve got 10 full days of family fun ahead! We’ve got playdtes, outdoor activities, movie marathons and even an amazing trip on the agenda! Even The Harried Mom is taking a spring break of sorts – this week we’re loading up on reviews and giveaways of “fun things to do with kids!”
Any one can join in. Just copy the questions below, fill in your own answers and link up with Old School Blogging hosts Heather from Theta Mom and Elaine from The Miss Elaine-ous Life and tag it #OSBlog. Also, don’t forget to check out the other linked up posts while you’re there…some are super fun to read!
So here we go:
1. How did your husband pop the big question?
The Hubs and I spent the day wandering around NYC and eventually wound up in Central Park. We got hot dogs and sodas and sat at the edge of the Bethesda Fountain with the “Angel of the Water” statue and people-watched for a while. The Hubs suggested that we rent a rowboat and go out on the Central Park Lake. Forty-five minutes of walking around looking for the rental place and waiting on line for one of the last boats of the season (it was November 1) we were out in the middle of the lake when he got down on one knee and proposed. It was incredibly romantic. I was so excited that I jumped up and nearly tipped the boat over and having my beautiful ring tossed right into the drink! Everyone around us clapped and couples in other boats rowed by to congratulate us.
Me, just moments after getting engaged to The Hubs. Clearly I had no idea it was going to happen this day or else don’t you think I would have done my hair?!
When we got off the boat we happened to run into a friend of ours who was out on a 1st date. They joined us at the Loeb Boathouse for a celebratory drink, a few years later we toasted them at their own wedding!
2. What are the three most surprising things about married life?
Marriage is hard, it’s something your constantly working at and it is always evolving. Sometimes marriage is like it’s a business transaction and other times like a soap opera – most notably when kidlets enter the picture.

3. How did you find out you were preggers for the first time?
I was on a business trip in LA and on the first night there I was out at a dinner with some of my co-workers. I just didn’t feel right and it wasn’t jet lag and decided to forgo drinking wine with the meal. To this day, I still can’t accurately describe that feeling, but I never had it again. I slept horribly the entire trip. I kept having dreams about being pregnant and babies crying which would wake me up. As soon as stepped of the plane on my return I stopped at a pharmacy and bought a home pregnancy test kit. The Hubs and I tried to keep ourselves busy for the three minutes it took for the test results to register and we were both thrilled and terrified when we saw the words “Pregnant.”
4. How did you choose your first baby’s name?
For our first child, we decided we wanted to be surprised so we didn’t know if it was a boy or girl. We never did settle on a girl’s name (and what discussion we had to name our daughter!), but we knew we wanted to name a boy in honor of both his grandfathers.
5. Describe where you see yourself 10 years from now…
Probably at the salon getting my hair colored to cover up all the gray hairs these two kidlets have given me! Both my kidlets will be tweens by then and I expect that I’ll be shuttling them around to their various friends houses, sporting events and extracurricular activities. I know I will still be working, maybe as the PR head of a new cable network just for moms!
6. Describe how you find bliss either by using words or images.
Family, friends and wine – in that order!
Now it’s your turn to share. What’s your answer to one of the questions above?
