PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics, Giving Back One Beauty Product At A Time – Review & Giveaway

I’m not much of a glamour girl or fashionista, but like anyone else out there, I like to look good and put together. To me, being put together means not stepping out of the house without my warpaint on, ready to take on the world!   My makeup obsession has always been anything lip related…lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, you name it.   I’ll admit it, I spend way too much money every year trying out new brands and going back to old favorites…but there could be worse guilty pleasures!

-1A few weeks back a friend of mine mentioned she was working on a project with PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics, and I was of course intrigued.  My first question to her was if I could try their products!  However, when she started telling me the philosophy behind the company, I became interested on a much deeper and totally different level.

PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics is a cosmetics line that is giving back, one beauty product at a time.  This eco-friendly line donates 100 percent after-tax, distributable profits to charities that support urgent women’s rights issues around the globe. The company strives to end servitude and exploitation of women and children and promote women’s health advocacy issues.  So it’s make-up with a purpose (or more than one purpose!).

PeaceKeeper1Currently the PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics line mainly features lip products but they also carry nail polish and select clothing items. Now my lip product obsession will be serving some good, because with every purchase I make from this line of cosmetics I’m supporting a woman or girl in need around the world today!

So far I’ve tried out four of their lip balms, all of which kept my  lips moist, smooth & nurtured:

  • Yum Balm Citrus  The USDA seal on this balm means that it’s been confirmed to be 95% organic by the USDA meaning it’s food-grade – so technically you could spread this on your toast with butter for breakfast.  However, I recommend that you stick to applying them to your lips – but they do have a nice “taste” to them.
  • Perfect As Is Balm is a soothing and vitamin rich lip balm made with organic rose and stevia which offer intense hydration and long-lasting lips.   It has pink tint to it giving your lips just a bit of color.
  • Eco-Sensual Balm is a mix of aromatic spearmint and richly moisturizing coconut oil which is excellent for soothing sensitive, dry lips.  This is one of my favorites – it’s super soothing and keeps my dry lips from chapping!
  • Superfruit Balm features the super powerful combination of goji and pomegranate that nourish lips with vitamins, minerals and loads of antioxidants for healthy, soft and smooth lips.   I think this one smells the best  with its light and fruity aroma.

All of PeaceKeeper’s products are reasonably priced, on the level of any department store cosmetic. Balms and nail polish retail at $8.oo a piece, lip gloss are $10 a pop and lipsticks are $12.00 each.

Hey Lindsay, was doing some hunting on liikednn, saw your name on the Paint:Lab page and figured I should check your work out. I love the way you’ve combined your pencil drawings with bits of color, esp. the birds of paradise image. The fish in Grace are beautiful (well the whole piece is, but I like that part best). And I love Predatory, the way it feels hard and edgy, yet soft a smooth the way the human bodies and the animal parts clash together but are still connected. Cool stuff! Also thats really awesome that you got to paint a mural down in Mexico. (Jealous). Have you seen the new mural thats going up on Ocean Park and Main? Hope all is well with you these days. Morgan E. Shepherd (we worked at Paint:Lab together).

My favorite type of make-up is bronzer. I love the glow that it gives you and it makes me feel so pretty out in the sun with the right one. That is my favorite make-up product to splurge on and love trying the newest ones.

While I love makeup, I don’t normally wear lip products. However, I do love that each purchase is supporting other women around the world. I love companies that give back!
