Disclosure: I was sent a copy of the Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver
in exchange for my honest review.
My son has always loved playing with Hot Wheels® cars. In fact every time we go to the store and he sees a display he pleads with me to get him one – and since they’re inexpensive, costing just a little more than a buck – I cave in and buy one for him, which is why our toy room has a bin like this!
Now Hot Wheels has taken playing with their cars from the physical world into a virtual one with release of Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver™ from Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. My son is a fan of many other games WB has put out (i.e. LEGO® Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes), so when we got a copy of this game to try out on his Nintendo 3DS, my son was literally raring to go!
Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver lets players get behind the wheel of some pretty outrageous and cool-looking Hot Wheels vehicles (both cars and motorcycles) and puts your driving skills to the test! Actual gameplay includes competition in dozens of fast-paced challenges highlighting the different driving styles of Team Hot Wheels: the speed record-breaking Green Team, the show-stopping stunts of the Red Team, the high-tech precision of the Blue Team and the world record-breaking jumps of the Yellow Team.
The game features 24 different Hot Wheels vehicles, takes players to exotic locations with extreme tracks set in four different test facilities around the world and pushes to their limits to see if they have what it takes to become the “World’s Best Driver!”
My son likes all the different Hot Wheels vehicles he can select from. I can always tell when he’s playing the game because I hear him whoop and holler whenever he makes the cars do crazy maneuvers, jumps and tricks!
What I like about Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver is that it is pretty straightforward; it’s a racing game, so I didn’t have to spend much time showing or explaining to my son how to play, all the challenges are re-playable and the 3D graphics are amazing.
I also liked that this game, while competitive, is completely non-violent and feel comfortable letting my son playing the game unattended. It’s also totally appropriate to give as a gift to a younger gamer this holiday season, especially one who loves to play with Hot Wheels cars or video racing games.
Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver is available on five different gaming platforms. The retail price of the 3DS and Windows PC version is $29.99 and the XBox360, PlayStation 3 and WiiU going for $39.99.
Now it’s your turn to share. What’s your favorite video game to play?
