Join Purex in Supporting Make-A-Wish & Laundry Giveaway

I’m a huge supporter of companies who team up their products with worthwhile causes for a greater good.  Throughout the month of February Purex® Laundry Detergent is teaming up with the Make-A-Wish foundation, one of the world’s leading children’s charities for their “Bright Washes, Bright Wishes” promotion.

MAW-purex-insiders-290x180_RI’m sure you’ve heard of Make-A-Wish before, but they help to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.   The kids helped by this organization say that granted wishes give them a renewed strength to continue in the brave fight against their illnesses while their parents say these experiences help strengthen their entire family.

Keep Calm And Get Blogging!

Happy New Year!  It was great to unplug the past two weeks to enjoy the holiday with friends and family.  As much as I love being connected, it was relaxing not to be a slave to social media or a post schedule.  It was a time for me to re-charge and get ready for a brand new year of blogging excitement!

But getting started again is hard!

I sat down at the computer in my home office no less than a dozen this past weekend with the intention of getting my editorial calendar in order and even getting a jump-start on some blog posts for this week.  Somehow though, staring at an empty year calendar and even worse, a blank Word document, was daunting.  The post ideas and words just wouldn’t (or couldn’t?) come to me.  Had I taken too long of a writing/blogging/social media break?

Old School Blogging – Lists Of Five

Back in the day do you remember passing around lists of questions and sending to your friends to fill out and then laughing or smiling at each others answers?  Well that’s the premise behind “Old School Blogging” (#OSB for short) and it’s been resurrected in a fun  meme, which has quickly turned into one of my favorite monthly posts to write!

The rules, if you want to call them that, are simple.    Just copy and paste the questions below and add your own answers, then link up over on the blogs of its hosts Elaine and Alison to join in the fun.  Make sure to include the hashtag #OSBlog when you Tweet so others can find you!

This month speaks to my inner OCD gal who makes lists for just about everything (I even do lists about doing laundry, I know, it’s a sickness!).  Keep reading to see some of my favorites and get to know me better and leave me a link in the comments if you’ve done it too so I can check yours out!

I’m Mom-ing It Forward Today With A Musical Maracas Kid Craft

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  It was beautiful here on the East Coast with sunny skies and warm weather which all tells me that Spring is finally here!

One of the first Spring celebrations is coming up later this week.  It’s Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May) and last week I shared some fun ideas and a yummy recipe from Ingrid Hoffman for Turkey Nachos to celebrate the holiday.

images-6Well, I’m still in a fiesta mood and I’m “muy feliz” to be guest posting today at Mom It Forward with a fun and easy “Musical Maracas” kids craft.  To see me and my little senorita shake our homemade maracas,  just click on the Mom It Forward logo below – and make sure to leave me a little love there!

Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I want to thank Ellen at Bad Word Mama for nominating The Harried Mom for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.   I had no idea awards like this existed – an award that is not based on votes and a popularity contest (I’ve never won one of those in my life!).  I’m honored by this recognition because; to me at least, it means that someone found what I’ve been doing here humorous, helpful and/or inspiring.  Talk about an ego boost!  I think this is a great encouragement for any blogger out there.

Old School Blogging

Today I’m “kicking it old school” with a new monthly meme started by the ladies behind two of my “must-read” blogs The Miss Elaine-ous Life & Theta Mom.

Old
Now, I haven’t been blogging as long as these ladies have, but I do remember the days – at least on Facebook and email – of passing lists and questionnaires around “tagging” each other and then either laughed, smiled or cried as I read my friends answers.   I always thought they were fun and I was always surprised about “new” things I would learn about my friends.

Weekend Giveaway: NetZero 4G Hotspot

If you are always on the go like myself – between commuting to and from work, chauffeuring kidlets to various play dates, running errands, watching sports practices/games or even dance class – it’s practically impossible to find a safe and reliable WiFi connection to use your smart phone or tablet devices.

NetZero MB Logo - colorSo when I was sent a NetZero 4G Hotspot to try, I was very excited!  The NetZero 4G Hotspot is a fantastic device that provides a portable, super fast and secure internet connection without the worry of public Wi-Fi hoarders, which means you can be “plugged in” wherever you go.  It can power up to eight internet enabled devices such as computers, phones and iPads all at once. The Hotspot itself is both compact and durable and has a battery life of up to 6 hours.Continue reading ⇒
