This summer has been my son’s first-ever camp experience. He’s only six years old so The Hubs and I opted to have him go to a local day camp that caters exclusively to younger children. He’s there five days a week and it’s a full day program, from 9 am to 3 pm. He was a little apprehensive at first — learning the new surroundings & making new friends — but I can totally tell that he loves it.
How can I tell?
I can see it in his face. He smiles and laughs all the time when he talks about what he’s done at camp that day. In all that he’s told me (and there’s been A LOT), he’s never told me about a sad or dull camp moment.
I can see it in his attitude. He springs out of bed each morning raring to go, excited to see his buddies and get started on all the crazy adventures & fun activities that are in store for him. If it were up to him, camp would start at the crack of dawn and not end until sundown! I’m hoping this one carries over into the school year starting in September!
I can see it in his bedtime routine. He is basically outside all day, breathing fresh air, playing, swimming and whatever camp has going on that day. By the time 7:30 pm rolls around he’s ready to fall asleep wherever he is – at the dinner table, watching cartoons or playing with his LEGOs. Luckily I’m able to rouse him long enough to change into his PJs and crawl into bed – so I don’t wreck by back carrying him to his bedroom!
I can tell from his camp T-shirts. He starts each day with a vibrant and pristine red t-shirt with his camp logo on it. When he comes home in the afternoon his t-shirts are always dingy, dirty and full of oily, greasy stains. There are stains from paint, glue, chocolate ice cream and, of course, perspiration. Ugh, they are just a mess! Liquid stain removers just weren’t doing the job, so I had to up the stain-fighting ante, and break out the Purex® Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar.
I had never heard of Fels-Naptha Laundry Bars before, but my mom told me about them. They’ve been around for 120 years – so they must know something about stain removal! It’s safe for all colors, most fabrics and it’s pretty easy to use. All you have to do is wet the bar, rub the stain with it and then wait a couple of minutes. For tougher or stubborn stains, use a soft brush to work the detergent in. Then you just toss your clothes in the washer like you normally would and viola, no more stains! On the package it says that you can also use it for a stain boost to a wash load – just finely grate 1/2 of the bar (use less for smaller loads) into the washer, fill washer with water, and agitate for several minutes before adding clothing.
I’m going to make sure that I have Fels-Naptha Laundry Bars on hand for this fall. Both my son and daughter are playing in soccer leagues/clinics and I’m sure there will be more than a few grass stains that I’ll need to take care of.
Now it’s your turn to share. What’s the worst stain you’ve ever had to remove?
