I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Sprint Sound Sessions. I received a sample of the HTC One to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating. As always, all opinions expressed on this site are my very own. Have you ever heard the saying “music hath charms to soothe a savage beast?” Not that I am comparing myself to a savage beast, but music certainly plays a role in setting both my temperament and emotions.
When I’m working in my office, I often listen to music played off my smartphone. I mostly listen to 80s music. Lots of songs from that era feature fast tempos that help me get into a groove when I’m writing. When I’m in the kitchen, I’ll play hits from the 70s including tunes. The sing-songy nature of that music gets me moving melodically as I make dinner. If I want to chill, I listen to classic crooners from the 1950s.
However, just as important as the music selection is to setting my mood, so is the sound quality. Quite honestly, the sound quality from most smartphones is pretty horrible — whether it be for music, video or just plain talking on the phone. It always sound tinny and the music is muddy, never quite picking up bass or drum beats.
That was until I got to personally experience the HTC One® Harman Kardon® edition – a Sprint exclusive smartphone with a premium sound experience. I first checked it out at a Sprint Sound Sessions event that was recently held in NYC.
Harman Kardon is best known for audio systems they build for high-end luxury cars, but now they’re lending their technology to Sprint’s HTC One smartphone for clean, clear and dimensional sound quality for users. The phone uses something they call Clari-Fi™ technology, which improves digital sound quality by restoring all types of compressed digital music. And when you use their headphones, the sound is even more amazing. It’s like you’re actually sitting in the front at a concert and not listening to it thru earbuds! That sound quality also transfers over to when you’re using your phone to talk. Calls sound like the person is standing next to you talking right into your ear.
With Sprint’s new national entertainment platform, Sprint Sound Sessions, users have music literally available at their fingertips offering the ability to discover new music, read industry news, purchase or stream favorite songs, features live wallpaper, plus instant music recognition and discovery. Some other great music features this new phone offers:
Spotify Premium service, free for three months or six months with Sprint’s Framily Plan. If you’re not familiar with Spotify, it’s a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs. You can create your own radio stations based on a favorite song or artist, or you can create your own playlists, using Spotify’s catalogue. You can also follow your friends to see what they’re listening to.
Sprint Music Plus, Sprint’s official music store and player for music tracks, albums, ringtones and ringback tones.
At the Sprint Sound Sessions event I attended, the folks at Sprint had not one, but two great surprises for attendees. First, each of us got to take home our very own HTC One® Harman Kardon® edition smartphone to try out for ourselves and then we got treated to a private mini-concert by Jermaine Paul, the Season 2 winner of “The Voice.”
I’ll be honest, I don’t watch “The Voice,” so I didn’t know who Jermaine Paul was before this event. However, I heard for myself why he won. He’s got an incredible voice and a talented musician. Before his big win, he was a backup vocalist for Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige, so he’s definitely got music cred. One of the first songs I downloaded to my new phone was his single “Next to You” which you heard a bit of in the video above.
Now, if you’re a sound nerd like me, in addition to getting this phone, you’ll want to check out the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio speaker. At the Sprint Sound Session I got a quick demo on how it easy it is to pair a smartphone with this wireless device and how it uses 4 powered speakers and dual passive radiators, which give it extraordinary acoustics. I was so impressed by it that I took The Hubs into our local Sprint store to hear it as well and we wound up walking out with one of these bad boys!
My new smartphone, I love the large screen. I pair it with my Harman Kardon Onyx Studio wireless speaker for even more incredible music sound.
I’ve done a little research on the HTC One® Harman Kardon® edition smartphone since I got it and there’s nothing else on the market that compares to the incredible sound and music experience it offers. If you’re in the market for a new phone and you are a music lover, you should check it out.
You can find out more about the phone, the wireless speaker and Sprint’s Framily Plan, by checking out their website and don’t forget to also check out Sprint Music. Now it’s your turn to share? What songs would be on your custom music channel?
