Disclosure: I was provided with a VTech® InnoTab® MAX in order to facilitate this review.
All opinions are my very own.
My kidlets totally take after me and The Hubs when it comes to trying out new tech products. You should see how excited they get when a new tech toy arrives for them to actually try out! One of their recent favs has been the Kidzoom® Smartwatch from Vtech (which I wrote about here), the two of them have fought over since we got it this summer.
So when the InnoTab MAX showed up on our doorstep earlier this month, they were psyched to finally have their very own tablet device instead of having to borrow mom and dad’s to play on. It might just be the perfect gift for the tech/gadget loving kid on your holiday list!
The InnoTab MAX by VTech is a multi-media learning tablet for children aged 3-9 that combines educational games and creative activities.
I like that it’s built to grow along with my child. It combines VTech’s expert-supported library of cartridges, software and apps with carefully selected educational Android apps for fun and educational learning.
This tablet features a large (7 inch) high-resolution touch screen that allows kids to either use their fingers or the included stylus to navigate around. It has a useful handle for kids to tote the tablet around and comes with a detachable cover/stand which helps makes it durable to tough wear and tear by kids.
Users have access to more than 650 educator-endorsed, age and stage appropriate learning titles as well as carefully cultivated educational Android apps that can be purchased and downloaded through VTech’s Learning Lodge® app store.
They also offer an extensive line of educational cartridges that allow children to progressively learn key subjects such as math, reading and science.
Each InnoTab MAX arrives pre-loaded with 15 apps including Premium VTech® Kid Connect, My Magic Beanstalk, Movie Maker, Art Studio, Wonder Cam Max and E-Reader with Story Dictionary.
It also comes with one free Toca Boca app (my kidlets love the Hair Salon one!) and two more free apps that can be downloaded from the Learning Lodge via InnoTab MAX’s kid-safe Wi-Fi.
Here’s my daughter chilling out on her bed, playing some wacky mix and match animal game….
I think the Premium VTech Kid Connect™ app is pretty cool. It allows my kidlets to send me voice and text messages and photos in real-time between their tablet and my smartphone. They enjoy having that connectivity to mom when she’s not at home!
There are also some nifty parental controls on the InnoTab MAX. You can manage your child’s apps, their web access, and actual tablet time as well as view a progress log – so you can keep tabs (no pun intended) on your child’s interactive playtime.
Some other cool elements of the InnoTab MAX:
- 4GB of internal memory that is expandable to 40 GB with a micro SD card (not included)
- A 180 degree rotating camera that allows users to edit images
- A built-in rechargeable Lithium battery
So in a nutshell what I really like about InnoTab MAX are the educational benefits its games, apps and e-books offers my kidlets. They think they are just having fun, but really they are it’s teaching them with things like visualization and memory, hand-eye coordination, language development, discovery and exploration, imaginative play, word building, reading comprehension, problem solving and basic math skills, among others!
The VTech InnoTab MAX is available at toy stores, big box retailers, online and at VtechKids.com. It retails for $109.99 and I see that it’s already made a bunch of the holiday hot toy lists for 2014. For more info on the InnoTab MAX, connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.

Now it’s your turn to share. What’s your favorite app on your tablet or smartphone?
